Concept art made for film pitch - 3rd Year

At the beginning of this term I helped to create the work for a film pitch, Vetere, which unfortunately didn't get greenlit to be made this year, but I had a great time working for Sara and Beth even though it was a rush to get everything made in only a week and I felt it really helped me to practice my concept art and background skills.

I started by researching the story and idea, and did these two studies of deserts:

I then drew up the second one digitally and tried to make it look more like a concept art piece, however I found this challenging as the film was pitched as 3D, so I had to think about making it fit this style rather than a 2D animation style.

I then made this background and put two of the main characters into it, however at this point the character models were very rough so they weren't the finished designs. Below it you can see the process of drawing it using the 3d model by Sara.

I also made this concept art as a 'wow' image to use in the pitch for the brochure as well as the presentation, showing an important part of the film, when the main character thinks he's found the dragon he's been sent to kill.
