Tea Project (Week 2)

Here was my idea for the tea project:
Nostalgia, memories + rustic, earthy colours
  • Small stuffed house full of trinkets and souvenirs, all blue/grey colours
  • Granddaughter brings tea to grandmother
  • When she is given tea, she flashbacks to seeing her husband from her POV smiling, giving her a cup of tea (in same house, but colours are warm and bright)
  • Shows them from side, each with a cup of tea in one hand, and the other arms are holding each other
  • (Back to present) Granddaughter is playing on the floor with toys and looks up to the grandma and is happy and giggling.
  • Grandma sips cup of tea and smiles, shutting her eyes and slowly leaning back into her chair, resting the cup in her lap as small tears fall down her cheeks and she continues smiling, her tea keeping her memories alive.

Then my group all pitched our individual ideas to each other and the class, and then we picked our final idea, which is the following: Similar to Aardman's Creature Comforts, its like a comedy documentary about teacups/mugs that have lives and personalities who speak to the camera, giving their anecdotes or just generally talking about their 'lives' - their personalities reflect those of their owners, so for example, we thought it would be fun to have a builder's mug, a posh mug, a student mug, takeaway cup, etc. some of which will be with other mugs who can converse and bounce off each other, hopefully resulting in a funny animation that will be especially great for children, but really all ages. The medium we are going to use is live action mugs and setting, some of which will be moving about and animated using stop motion. We will then animate their faces and lip sync using 2D animation.

Here is a small plan I made of a potential scene where there's a mug on the pier in Falmouth, hears the seagulls flying around right above him, tries to get away, and eventually gets pooped in by a seagull, all while complaining and making mug/tea puns.
