DGA130 - 2D Background Project (Week 1)

In our lesson today with Kathy, she showed us what tonal drawings are, and we did some examples with her. They are drawings where you only focus on the tonal values in the picture, ignoring details or hues, which is why charcoal is a good medium to use. She also told us about the website animationbackgrounds.blogspot.co.uk where we can see the many backgrounds from big animation companies like disney, all put together by the blog's creator. We were tasked with doing more tonal drawings based on the backgrounds found on that blog, which I really enjoyed doing so it'll be fun to do more. We also looked at naturalistic painters and now have to pick one to focus on next week and continuously through this term for styling our background shot task.
